Love this. Inspired to create.
Ancient Assyrian relief, Lamassu, originally from the Palace of Sargon II, currently located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Think I saw this in the Louvre, or something very similar. It was mindblowing.
What Can We Do? - Charles Bukowski
at their best, there is gentleness in Humanity.some understanding and, at times, acts of
couragebut all in all it is a mass, a glob that doesn’thave too much.
it is like a large animal deep in sleep and almost nothing can awaken it.
when activated it’s best at brutality, selfishness, unjust judgments, murder.
what can we do with it, this Humanity?
avoid the thing as much as possible.treat it as you would anything poisonous, vicious and mindless.
but be careful. it has enacted laws to protect itself from you.
it can kill you without cause.
and to escape it you must be subtle.
it’s up to you to figure a plan.
I have met nobody who has escaped.
I have met some of the great and famous but they have not escaped
for they are only great and famous within Humanity.
I have not escaped but I have not failed in trying again and again.
before my death I hope to obtain my life.
Umbrella of Pretension
Words are dancing shadows
I’ve hid behind them for decades
I wonder if emotional depth exists in me anymore
Sometimes I feel as shallow as a puddle
That barely breaks the surface when it’s stepped in
The wall I’ve built with clay and daub
Stands tall, while the city it protects crumbles
The pretension of exploration of self
Would that the wind would knock me over
Or carry me outside the city
Let my bones sink deep in a lake somewhere
So that I might feel at last
Close to the earth by becoming soil
